A Shared Initiative, Inc. (ASII) receives a $500 NewcleusGives Donation from Newcleus Credit Union Advisors on behalf of Kelly Rodrique and Jared Freeman of OnPath Federal Credit Union.
A Shared Initiative, Inc. was a nonprofit created by OnPath Federal Credit Union, following Hurricane Katrina as a community development/anti-poverty arm of the credit union. Candace Washington, OnPath’s Vice President of Member Engagement, holds the position of President of ASII.
Newcleus Credit Union Advisors Director, Greg Gauthier, visited the CUES Directors Conference in December to present the check.

The mission of ASII is to provide affordable homeownership opportunities and expand access to vital community services.
More specifically, ASII is focused on increasing access to financial education and resources for individuals, families, small businesses, and other non-profits throughout New Orleans and southeast Louisiana.
ASII’s core programs include its comprehensive housing counseling program, which comprises:
- Pre-purchase homeownership counseling
- Foreclosure prevention counseling
- Credit counseling
- Financial literacy
Additionally, ASII’s microloan program provides micro-lending opportunities and technical assistance to small businesses which have been unable to access affordable financing from other sources.
Moving forward, the OnPath Federal Credit Union Foundation will be focused on supporting initiatives that help create generational wealth: reaching out to partner nonprofits that are dedicated to educating youth and families through scholarships, community involvement, homeownership, and financial success.
Financially supporting many of the same initiatives as ASII, the OnPath FCU Foundation will:
- Invest time and resources into initiatives and partnerships that improve the state of our community
- Positively impact generational wealth through education, scholarship, and sponsorship
- Serve to encourage and inspire others to make a commitment to improving social conditions
- Work as a catalyst in creating partnerships to help our communities expand access to opportunities that create generational wealth

NewcleusGives Program
Here at Newcleus, we care about our local communities. We’ve created a CSR program called NewcleusGives to reflect our passion for philanthropy and assist our partners in creating impactful CSR programs of their own. Through this initiative, we have developed opportunities for team volunteer time, a workplace giving program as well as a gift matching program.
